When I was in pre-school I wasn’t particularly found of decorating shoe boxes to make special valentines day mail boxes or for making valentines for every kid in my class. I was the only girl who didn’t bring in half a crafts store when the day for decorating our boxes arrived. This continued all through school and I attributed this behavior to my lack of creativity and a general dislike for scrapbooking and turning a jam jar into a pen holder.
I got my first store bought valentine day in junior year. In addition to a valentine chocolate , I also received three heart shaped valentine messages; one of them was from a ‘secret admirer’. That’s when I realized that I had a taste for the finer non-hand crafted things in life. The bottom line is it may be cute when you’re kid makes a heart shaped note for you but there is no way on earth I’ll want anything less than the best from my boyfriend on Valentine’s Day. Personally I think the constant search for romantic s for me keeps him on his toes. When he screws up or something he knows just what should accompany his apology (a big necessity as he’s not really a man of words). Over the course of three years I have refined his taste in s that he buys for me. There was actually a time when he thought a champagne bottle and a Dido CD could pass for a Valentine’s Day . His skill has gotten to a point where he can actually surprise me with Valentine s. He finds the best valentine’s day chocolate and makes great arrangements for Valentines dinner. Last year we had a romantic evening out, we wined and dined and when I got home I had a special fruit bouquet waiting for me. It was something he had found during his search for unique Valentine’s Day ideas. It was a real winner and although I prefer getting a different each year on all occasions, I’m actually hoping I’ll get another fruit bouquet this year!
